Come help Drama Studio uplift one of our beloved  community partners AND celebrate our newest TheaterReader school students at Kensington Elementary!

We hope that you will join us onsite on June 13th from 4:00 - 6:30pm to show support for our literacy outreach program as Springfield City Creative Collective has made possible a grant for our 75 students to each receive a voucher to purchase a book from Olive Tree in time for Juneteenth!

Olive Tree is unrivaled as a community resource, and specializes in African American literature and a celebration of voices, so we are so grateful for our TheaterReaders to have access to Zee's book store!

 Olive Tree Books-N-Voices

Olive Tree Books-n-Voices is a family-owned African American business located in Springfield.  Founded by Zelmon (Zee) Johnson in 2005 who runs it to this day, this community bookstore has specialized in African American books and literature and multicultural books.

“With a focus on being a resource for all ages interested in literary pursuits, Olive Tree Books-n-Voices offers a range of products and services. They also actively support the community by exposing them to local, regional, and national authors, providing book awards, and participating in community events and networking organizations.”

Olive Tree’s commitment to literacy, connectionalism to other art mediums, and the power of children having access to literature that represents their voices and identities is essential to our Springfield community.
