Responses to the Reunion invitation
Elliott Dutcher
It is with great misgiving that I will not be able to attend this year's reunion. The waters of the Atlantic are not easily crossed (nor cheaply, for that matter), and I have found myself stranded in the far corner of England throughout the school break. I have enjoyed my time in Norwich immensely (including a trip to both the renovated Globe Theatre and famous rest place in Stratford-upon-Avon), so my sorrow at missing the reunion has been somewhat... lightened. Nonetheless, I do hope you will send along my regards to my fellow alumni and members of staff. I should be back on native soil in a year's time, eager to make amends for my absence. I wish you the best of holiday cheer.

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the Alumni Meeting, my flight didn't come in till the next day. I'm currently in school through a distance program at Vermont College. It is an independent study program where I mail in my progress once a month. My study, this semester, is on Fear in Literature: A historical and psychological look at the use of fear in fiction. I love school! I'm currently living in Newport News Virginia and working as a Nanny for two little boys ages three and eighteen months. I followed my heart down south but really miss back home and my second family at The Studio. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and hope to see you next year.
Love,
Gwen James

Roxanna Myhrum
Rox graduated from Harvard in 2005 and is currently exploring different arts-related career paths. After letting her theatrical self hibernate during her first three years of college, she directed student productions of Trojan Women and Gilbert and Sullivan's Yeomen of the Guard. She is now gearing up to assistant-direct the opera Hansel and Gretel for the Boston Opera Collaborative. Rox has also been working in film and TV production, and is currently finishing up a long-term gig as production assistant on the PBS show "America's Ballroom Challenge." Her next projects will be working with a production design team on several historical-recreation documentaries. After joining a south Asian dance team, participating in an experimental movement piece at the National Puppetry Conference, and working for months on a dance-themed TV show, Roxanna has been inspired to pursue more dance and theatrical movement training (begun at the Studio!) and hopes to choreograph something awesome one day. That, and make some cool movies. And play a leading role in a major urban Shakespeare-in-the-Park show. We'll see!
She welcomes questions from DSers about entry-level production work, and would happily collaborate on all manners of cool projects, including writing a play for current DS students to perform.

I'm still doing well in Pittsburgh where I've been working as a chef and have begun doing some food writing over the last several months including starting my own food blog at www.corduroyorange.com
[Editor’s note: This is a really neat blog and was recently in a contest for best food blogs!]

Things are fantastic here in Chicago, and as I think I've said before, this school is a really good fit. In case you were curious, the play Fences is at Hartford Stage sometime soon, and it is directed by Jonathan Wilson, one of the faculty here. I have a small role in the Visit by Friedrich Durrenmatt, which is a fantastic play and I am very much looking forward to it.
I have my Crafts For the Stage class early tomorrow morning, but I just wanted to send a quick hello and see how things were doing at the Drama Studio.
